Welcome

Thanks for stopping by. My name is Matthew Booth. Have a look around and get to know me.

Name: Matthew Booth

Age: 21

Nationality: British

Hobbies: Car racing, Karting, Skiing, Motocross.

2016: Throughout this year I competed in the sports specials championship of the 750 Motor Club in the car I built myself. It was a tough year as I worked on improving the car every round which allowed me to secure 3 wins and be on the podium for 5 of the 7 rounds. At the end of the year I managed to secure the 2016 Sports Specials championship.

2015: This year I have been building a car of my own to race in the 750 motor clubs Sports Special class and do some other events from 2016 onwards. It has been a long build process in which I have learnt alot of new skills and knowledge about cars.

2014: After completing my ARDS test I moved from Kart racing to cars. I looked at the many different options and finally decided that the Locost championship in the 750 Motor club would be the best for me. I had some good results straight from the off, even a podium at rockingham and I earnt alot whilst doing it, even with the mechanical faliures at the end of the year I took positives from it all.

2013: Moving into a new year I had changed the chassis and team that I was in. I had moved from a Birel to a Maranello and into the Maranello UK team. After some testing I was quite pleased with the kart and I had started to get to speed with the new chassis. Throughout the year there were ups and downs but it was a less successful year than I had hoped for.

2012: At the start of this year my age now allowed me to compete in senior racing. Because of this a new engine would be needed for the class I was to move into. The decision was made to move away from the Rotax engine class to a new series that had formed called KGP. This new class was much faster than the equivalent senior karts using Rotax engines due to both the grip from the tires and the delivery of the power from the engines. The level of competition also improved because the class only raced at super one level. Multiple British champions were the new competitors but I didn't let that bother me. As a rookie it was different to what I was used to but my speed increased throughout the year, as proven at Clay Pigeon kart club, Dorset where I came from 15th to 4th on a wet track bearing in mind it was also my first visit to the circuit. At the end of the championship I achieved 12th place and first rookie.

2011: Throughout this year I focused most of my attention on the NKF championship. I started the year on the Arrow kart that I competed with in 2010. Me and my father knew that a new kart would be needed soon and after the first few rounds of disappointing results the decision was made to switch to a new CRG Dark Knight. After the first race we knew the decision was good because of a 3rd place finish (1st NKF driver) at a track I had never raced at before. Through to the end of the year I had success on my CRG with a maximum points score at Glan-Y-Gors in Wales and winning the prestigious "Cock o' north" race at Wombwell. Over all I finished 3rd in the NKF championship but I was pleased considering the bad start to the year.

2010: My second year in karting wasn't easier than the first because it came with many more challenges. At the start of the year I changed class from Minimax to Junior max. This increases the minimum weight limit and also removes the restrictor from the engine. More power and more weight results in a harder kart to handle but I didn't let this hold me back. At Wombwell I achieved my first wins and good podiums throughout the year whilst competing for the first time in the Northern Karting Federation championship. At the end of the season I just lost out on first place in the Wombwell championship getting 2nd place and achieved 10th in the NKF championship despite missing several rounds.

Karting Debut: I started Karting in late 2008. With my first race at Wombwell I won the novice trophy beating five other rookies to achieve my first success.

2009: During this year I mainly competed at Wombwell kart circuit with a few races at Fulbeck kart circuit. It was the first year that I got to compete in a full club championship in the Minimax class. In the first few races I was still classed as a novice and had to start at the back of the grid but I didn't let that hold me back. At the end of the year I came third in the championship that had been closely fought with drivers that had a lot of experience in karting already.
